I was stealing from my family and neighbors. I was in a really ugly place. The night I over-dosed I was at my friend’s birthday party. I got really drunk because I was waiting to get heroin and it wasn’t there yet. I got a ride to my suppliers house from the party. I was told that after I shot up I started seizing so they propped me up on a nearby tree and left me. Lucky for me another neighbor saw me and called for help. The next thing I remember they administered Narcan. I found my self in a do or die situation. My first few days here were hell and I wanted to leave. Then one night I realized all the positive things about this place. By the time I get out my probation would be over and most important I could get my family back. I will have a large amount of clean time and have more coping tools I can utilize when I’m back in the real world. I realized this is the place to be. It also helps seeing people actually be here for seven, eight months. If they can do it, then I can do it too.
