I want to start a Methadone maintenance program but I’m scared. What side effects should I look out for? Thanks in advanced.

Methadone made me pretty tired but after a few weeks, when I found the right dose, I felt so much better! I feel like I can start working and being a normal citizen again. Good luck and don’t give up!

Some common side effects of Methadone are dry mouth, anxiety, insomnia, nausea and weakness. This doesn’t happen for everyone though. If you’re on the right dose you shouldn’t have a problem.

Methadone will most likely make you tired in the beginning but your body will start getting used to it.

I am on a Methadone maintenance program as well. I am trying to get off because it feels like how I was on Percocet. It helps, just not for me.

I am seeing more young people prescribed methadone for the lesser of opiates, vicodin, percocet. That is a crime, as withdrawals from the above are nothing compared to what you will experience with methadone. Some have to go to clinics for life and that is a prison in itself. You are living in a box if you are on methadone anyway! I also see that these clinics allow you to take methadone and do heroin without consequences. No wonder there are so many overdoses and deaths. These clinics raise your dosage as well to the heroin equivalent. Its a money maker!!! Not gauged for the recovery as in quitting the drug. It is a maintenance

anyone who is referred to a methadone clinic for vicodin, percocet should think twice and hard before committing yourself to a prison squared!!! The methadone will put you in a box where your thoughts, choice of daily routines are very limited. You will not realize this unless you quit. No matter what anyone tells you!! The withdrawal from the above is very mild compared to what you will experience on methadone. You will be a prisoner to the methadone clinic as no physician will keep you on without interruption for life. I know that to be true. The fear of not having the methadone is what drives one to heroin and then when they get methadone back they use both and die usually
