I would like to get off methadone. I need to plan it when I won’t have my daughter si she doesn’t have to see me like that, can anyone tell me how long the withdrawal will last?

I would suggest you plan not to see your kids for a while, withdrawal is not something they should see. And you may want to get yourself together before you see them again.

There is no real set of time. The length of withdrawal depends on who much and how long the person has been using.

The first week is just the worst. After that I had symptoms for about a month

Two months withdrawal for me. The first 10 days were hell, and I wanted to give up but I didn’t and I am a much better person for sticking to it.

I went into prison on 150 mg. They lowered me 5 mg a day for 30 days and cut me off on day 30 at 0 mg. I was the sickest I’ve ever been in my life for a month and a half and had postacute withdrawal symptoms for the next year

The only other time I withdraw from other than I was extradited from Maryland Florida. I was at 120 mg and went immediately to zero and was handcuffed in the shackled for 29 days on the bus well the zigzags around the country dropping people off and picking them up at various different penal institutions. I slept zero of those 29 nights put on the 30th night when I got to Florida I was dead tired and woke up the next day after a good nights sleep with zero withdrawal and felt way better then I had ever felt after withdrawing. I should’ve never used after that. that was my one chance. after that it’s been hell to try to withdraw from the opiates. I’ve been on maintenance since 2005
